LUKE 24: 13-14 “And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. And they talked together of all these things which had happened.”

These two disciples were living on the memory of a dead Christ rather than living in communion with the Living Lord. Their chronology was correct….

PHILIPPIANS 2:26-27 “For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.  For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.”

ROMANS 11:36 “For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory forever. Amen.”

I KINGS 17:10 “So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.”

EPHESIANS 3:17 “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love.”

LUKE 9:56 “For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them.”

Jesus said to James and John, two of His most energetic disciples, these words, “the Son of Man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”

PSALM 77:6 “I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.”

PSALM 119: 71 “It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.”

Psalm 119:33-40 “Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.”

I KINGS 18:30 “And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.”

The altar is the place of communion with God, the place where He meets with His own people, the place of prayer. Israel had thrown these altars down. (I Kings 19:14).

PSALM 37:5-6 “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.”

PSALM 119:18 “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold

wondrous things out of thy law.”

JOHN 1:1-2 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.”

DEUTERONOMY 33:25 “Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.”

1 SAMUEL 13:14 “But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.”

The name which is above every name is that Jesus Christ is Lord. The word for “Lord” here is a name for God, “Adonai,” which implies His sovereignty, His right to rule as God; and acknowledges, as a Sovereign, that He has that right. It is an acknowledgment to the truth for it takes the form of a confession. (verse 11)

“And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

PSALM 27:11 “Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.”
