ENOCH WALKED WITH GOD

GENESIS 5:23-24  “And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

To walk with God is to make progress, to progress with God. It means to keep pace with God, to keep near to God, to abide with Him. Intimacy is implied, so it means to be God’s companion, to be His disciple indeed, one with which He shares His purposes, a servant but not merely a servant, also a friend. To move with God, to move when He moves and stop when He stops.

Enoch walked with God, despite the corrupt times in which he lived, despite family ties and home cares, despite obligations to his livelihood and secular employment, despite the increase in depravity. He walked with God. He trusted in God. He testified for God.

Is it possible to walk with God in our generation? The answer is, yes. Though the world is a place of moral decay, morals are judged by majority vote today, for the most part, people seem to believe, if most people are doing it, it must be acceptable to God. There is much religious infidelity in the world; false doctrines and false ideas abound.

There is much bold indecency, much mental instability, and many marriages failing. The world is a place of wrong living, wrong loving and wrong logic. But despite all of this, we can and should walk with God, be His friend and companion, moving when He moves and stopping when He stops. Keeping pace with Him.  Letting our light shine in a very dark place. God will be with us if we do and we will glorify Him. Peace and joy will flood our hearts, and our lives will bless other’s lives.

In His Amazing Grace,
